Penguin Books has joined forces with (RED), the AIDS charity championed by the sunglassed one, Bono. This is such a sweet idea, they’ve coupled some quite abstract cover designs with the trademark colour of the charity. Making for some tasty looking classics.

Another example of the changing trends of media delivery thanks to community curation (trust based filtering) and information relevance (location and interest based filtering) that Facebook delivers way better than ‘blind’ algorithmic and feed based services such as Google News.

Would you watch and trust the news on TV more if your best friend was the anchor?

Taking that check means you’re alright with perpetuating a broken system, profiting from it, while simultaneously harming the business. Certainly, some agencies can and do make this work their sole profit center, but their time is consumed looking for a new client to replace the one they just lost. I’ve been following the travels of Jan Chipchase for the last few months now after coming across his amazing TED talk. He has what I would consider to be the best job in the world, traveling the globe studying behavioural trends in developing countries for Nokia.

If you have a couple of spare hours over the holiday period, check out his blog, and read a copy of his paper on Designing Mobile Money Services. If you’re like me, you will find this kind of social consumer evolution fascinating.
